Organizing regional seminar – Regional Workshop on Element 6: General Contents of a Remediation Plan

During 6-10 October 2014, Nuclear Agency and for Radioactive Waste in cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency in Vienna (IAEA) organized a “Regional Workshop on Element 6: General Contents of the Remediation Plan” into the framework of the regional technical cooperation project RER9 / 121 “Supporting Remediation in European Member States”.
This meeting was attended by participants from countries such as: Bulgaria, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Tajikistan, Serbia, but also participants from Romania, representatives of institutions such as The National Commission for Nuclear Activities Control (CNCAN), Nuclearelectrica (SNN), University Politehnica of Bucharest, Horia-Hulubei National Institute for Physics and Nuclear Engineering – IFIN-HH and Uranium National Company (CNU).
The papers of the seminar were conducted by experts from Canada, United Kingdom and IAEA.
On 10 October 2014 was made a technical visit to the site located in Caras Severin County (to a former uranium mine), where participants were presented with the way it was preserved and rehabilitated that site.
